GSD's Playmakers Program

This program seeks to encourage the youth of today to be the leaders of tomorrow — taking action to improve themselves and their communities. In sports, as in life, victories are won as a team. But teams are held together by leaders with vision, the will to act and the ability to inspire. We call them Playmakers.

We want to build a new generation of Playmakers by giving youth the opportunity to experience the greatest competitive gathering of elite athletes from nations around the world: The Olympic Games. Beginning in 2002, GSD gave 100 youth this unforgettable educational experience by bringing them to the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. The trip was such a success, they returned for the 2004 Olympics in Athens and the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, B.C. Now the Playmakers Program is preparing for the 2012 summer Olympics in London with high expectations.**

Witnessing the Olympic dream firsthand, the culture of sportsmanship and the commitment to excellence that is cultivated at the Olympic Games is a life-changing experience. Through this experience, we hope to inspire youth to realize their full potential and begin changing the world from their own backyard.
